I've said before that I don't like writing or editing out of order because I have a hard time keeping everything straight and in order, and I've said before that I don't quite know how people do it. But with all the work that needs to be done on the final few chapters on Pixiehunter (and the few chapters leading up to them), I'm beginning to see the value. Some things just sort of fall into place once you get the big things down, and right now, the big things are a couple chapters ahead of where I'm currently working.
So, using my personal favorite editing method of separating chapters from the main doc and pasting them into their own, I'm going to work on the chapters with the big scenes and get those in order. From there I think I'll have a better handle on how I need to work the little bits to better support the bigger bits. I hope, anyway.
The biggest problem with the last few chapters is that I need to seriously rework and add a few scenes to better wrap the story. The way it is now is fine, but it could be SO much better, and of course I want it to reach that level of awesome. I did get some done today--mainly the breaking up of the final chapters into their own documents and some touch-ups on the chapter I was working on last week--and I'm planning to make tomorrow a Major Day of Writing and Revising. Like I said yesterday, Nana would kick my ass if she thought I wasn't working on my writing.
And, of course, I'll kick my own ass if I let myself sit around like a lump. In any case, tomorrow is a writing day, and since my classes don't start back until the 17th, I have some time. Nate should be home in late February/early March (unless things change), so I kinda want to get most of this done before then. I will, ahem, be otherwise occupied for a good chunk of time once he's home.
Anywho, writing tomorrow. I hope everyone's having a good weekend so far. Ciao for now and all that.
