As I said in the previous post, I've got queries out in the world. As fantastic as it is to finally reach this step, it's a bit problematic in regards to my productivity. To put it simply, with waiting comes that mindset of "I'm free to do anything!" and I wind up slacking.
No revisions to be done? Minecraft time! No new ideas for short stories? Go kill some creepers. Nobody waiting on you to send them something? Go mine some diamond. Waiting to hear back from an agent? MORE MINECRAFT!
(Maybe my problem is a Minecraft addiction, actually...)
I bought myself a fresh notebook the other day, and my goal is to work on some writing exercises in my spare time. I have this book full of them, and then I have little prompt books as well. I've got a stray idea from a few years back that I'm sorely tempted to bring back and change up, but I think I'm going to wait to do that until after Nate has gone back to do Army Stuff. Until he gets home I'll do the exercises and maybe a short story or two, just to keep me in that writing mindset.
Stagnation. It's a dangerous thing. Minecraft is also a dangerous (BUT SO DAMN FUN) thing.
In any case, I still have some stuff for class tomorrow to wrap up, and I need to take a shower. Today's been pretty chill and low-key, and I'm looking forward to a good day tomorrow, too. I hope you're all having a good week!
With good words and good wishes,
J.

Hey! I just found your blog and I think it's awesome. I'm starting the querying process for the first time myself and I understand what you mean about waiting and how that can lead to stagnation. Ugh! But maybe we will hear back soon! I just started a blog today and would be thrilled if you would glance at it. I hope to fill it with writing tips. (It is my anti-stagnation project. If I don't do SOMETHING I'll end up spending all of my free time gaming.) My blog is jessielambertwrites.blogspot.com I already have a couple things up. I hope you don't think I'm "spamming", but I just noticed that we had similar interests and were in the same part of the writing process. Thought I'd share my blog with you! Keep up the good work. :)
